Sensei Muse

Djeams Muse also known as Jim a young immigrant born in the island of Haiti in 1972.  He moved to the US in 1983 during the Duvalier revolution.  With his thick French accent and his big mouth he got into an altercation in school.  At that time he decided he would either have to learn to defend himself or learn to lose his accent.  He went to his parents and asked to be placed in a Martial Arts school; but he was denied.  He then decided to take speech classes with his English teacher.  He then lost his accent and began participating in many extracurricular activities.  Since soccer was his passion, he helped start a soccer team in his High School and also joined the Wrestling team. During his sophomore year he realized he needed to keep in shape between seasons.  His curiosity for Martial Arts resurfaced and he decided to look for a school. After wrestling season he bounced around in a few martial arts trying Tae Kwon Do, Okinawan karate, and Judo but none struck a cord.

One fateful summer day he went to see a Steven Seagal movie which made him decide to look for an Aikido School.  He found an Aikido school in Elizabeth NJ that he attended on and off over the next two years. He then went away to college and stopped practicing martial arts.

In March of 1997 he decided he would return to Martial arts and started looking for another Aikido School and found Nihon Goshin Aikido in Guttenberg NJ. Under the tutelage of Sensei Mihls, Sensei Sidoti, Sensei Delgado, and Sensei Mendez he continued his practiced faithfully until 2003 when he received his black belt

He started his student teaching in 2001 and continued teaching after 2003 when he reached hi rank of Shodan.  He continues to get instruction from Shian Bowe on a regular basis.

In May of 2007 he partnered with fellow aikidoka Sensei Durand to open Self Defense Aikido in Nutley NJ.
